ULSD: Why Today's Diesel is so Hard to Maintain

A fundamental contributor in preventative maintenance for an efficiently operable generator or any diesel powered engine is clean diesel fuel. Diesel fuel is an organic product that naturally deteriorates over time. Due to recent changes in governmental regulation, today's diesel is presently safer for the environment, producing significantly fewer carbon emissions. Regrettably these diesel bio-fuel byproducts leave the fuel more susceptible to bacterial growth, fungus and sludge build up. That sludge can clog your filters, create excessive exhaust smoke and damage fuel injectors. This will ultimately shut down your generator, particularly in emergency situations when you are running your generator day and night around the clock. Same issues apply to diesel storage tanks used to power your other diesel-powered engines.
